Conduct of Meet

Swimmers will sign up for individual events online (preferred) or day-of-event. Each event then will be “seeded” by the Clerk of Course. Each swimmer will receive a card for their event with a heat and “lane” assignment. The lane assignment will be a color, corresponding to the color of cap they’ll wear during the event, picked up at Clerk of Course. Each swimmer will receive a white swim cap in their packet to be worn under their lane designated colored cap (which will be re-used). When a swimmer's heat is up next, they give their card to the corresponding timer (pink goes to pink timer, green to green, etc) Six competitors per heat will swim in a clockwise pattern around four buoys in a square shape. Timers will start their watches when the horn/starting gun goes off and stop their watches when their swimmer crosses the finish plane. Swimmer then returns colored cap to Clerk of Course.

Relay Conduct

Teams of four will enter the relay events. For the 100 Medley and 100 Free Relays, the subsequent swimmers (2,3,4) will swim out to their “corner” and tread water until “tagged” by their team mate. For the 400 Free Relay, subsequent swimmers will wait at the Start/Finish line for their team mate to tag them before starting their leg.

Timers/Officials

Timers will stand on Timing Peninsula near the Start/Finish line with clipboards and stopwatches. Backup timers will be available. Starter will also be on the timing peninsula. A stroke official will be in the middle of the square on a boat/raft and/or on the Officials' Island.

Safety:

Bottom of pond is sandy, but be aware there may be unmarked rocks. Lifeguards will be on land and in the water with kayaks and paddleboards during the ½ mile swim.
